As a high school computer science teacher, my greatest joy is to create animations and artifacts that show off the visual beauty of mathematics.

I share them in class with my students, and on my YouTube channel Schattman Math, which has 2M views and 17,000 subscribers.

Although I make my animations using programming (see videos below), no knowledge of math or coding is needed to enjoy them! My hope is that by watching them you might be inspired to explore the elegant world of mathematics. After reading my books, that is.

My favorite unit to teach in my CS courses is AI. AI has an aura of omniscience in the media, yet AI is still quite childish in the errors it makes, and in its blind pursuit of whatever goal it’s been given. This makes our reliance on it dangerous. It is this danger that inspired me to write Custom Friend.
